In honor of teacher appreciation week, we are highlighting some of our favorite teacher spotlight interviews and spotlighting some new ones as well.
In high school, Denise Cito knew that she wanted to be involved in education, but life took her to different directions. Her passion for teaching was reignited through interacting with her young neighbor. She has been teaching business and marketing for over 12 years, having previously worked in both retail and finance.
“The kids…just the daily interaction. Going home and thinking what do I do differently the next day to make it better for them,” says Denise on what she loves about teaching. Denise believes in Career and Technical Education because “Regardless of what profession you go into, what type of degree you get. It all comes back to [CTE]” Denise’s advice to new teachers is to not get frustrated, take a deep breath and it’ll get easier as time passes.
Watch the video below for the full interview with Denise Cito.
Thank you, Denise, for your service to the students at McMinn County Career Tech Center.
