Halloween is the perfect season for this Zoom bell ringer idea! Instruct students to dress up in a costume that relates to their dream career, your course or your current lesson unit. You could give them a heads up the day before so they can prepare their ideas or give them ten minutes in class to quickly throw something together with what they have around their work area. Have your students share their costumes with the class and explain how it relates to the content. Use their costume presentations to review concepts that come up.
Vote with the class on awards for students whose costumes are the most creative, most elaborate, most unique and most relevant!
This bell ringer activity is a fun way to celebrate Halloween with an academic focus, but can be used any time you want students to be creative and think critically about what they are learning.
